excerpt from Portfolio 2015

From 2011 to 2013, I helped my mother build a small straw bale house by bringing in a timber-frame builder William Johnson. The structure was breathtaking at every stage of construction, inspiring me to organize a few art events on the premise. One of them, Creatures from the Sturgeon Moon, was a performance event showcasing Jan Harrison, Jason Martin, and IFAM, the Institute for Aesthetic Modulation. The theme was animals, and the event was dedicated to the bears of  the Catskills, as our house was invaded by a mother bear and two cubs earlier that summer. This project struck the rare sweet spot where all elements came together—the sweet summer night, great artists, fun company—all in a completely spontaneous production.
